Our training center helps ensure continuing education to therapists by offering a series of professional development seminars. A unique emphasis of this continuing education program is its collaboration with Idaho universities, school districts, state agencies, family physicians, pediatricians, and other non-profit organizations that serve children and families.
The training center strives to be the first choice for training in behavioral health issues affecting children, families, and those who serve them.
Idaho Parental Rights Law: Ethical dilemmas and boundary considerations for mental health clinicians

Overview
This training prepares mental health clinicians to navigate ethical challenges arising from newly passed parental rights laws. Using interactive lectures and case studies, participants will examine issues of confidentiality, informed consent, records requests, and professional boundaries. The session offers practical tools and strategies to balance legal requirements with ethical codes of practice, supporting clinicians in protecting client trust and preserving the therapeutic relationship.

About the Trainer
Jana Rose, LCSW
Jana Rose is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing full time as a school social worker with the Boise School District. Jana owns Resonance Counseling and Consulting, PLLC and specializes in supporting teen and adult clients as they tap into the powerful resiliency that innately exists within their nervous systems.
Additionally, Jana’s post-grad professional development and experience centers around somatic-based practices that promote trauma healing and overall wellbeing.
Jana is trained in the Trauma Resiliency Model through the Trauma Resource Institute and is a certified Community Resiliency Model Teacher.
She has years of experience working in community mental health, with non-profits supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and with programs that serve vulnerable adults. In her practice as a school social worker and community-based clinician, she has witnessed how the new Idaho parental rights laws are impacting children and youth on a daily basis.
Jana is passionate about protecting the privacy of minor clients while adhering to ethically sound and legal social work practice.
DBT Training (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)
Overview of DBT with Emphasis on DBT Skills for Adolescents and Caregivers

Overview
This training introduces the fundamentals of DBT for adolescents (ages 12+) and their caregivers. Participants will explore key strategies such as validation, dialectics, and behavioral chain analysis, along with the four core modules - emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and mindfulness - plus adaptations for adolescents, including the Middle Path module. The facilitator will also highlight the role of case conceptualization and how to integrate chain analyses with biopsychosocial history to tailor skills to each client.

- Learn effective strategies for teaching DBT skills to youth and families
- Gain practical tools to implement DBT skills immediately in clinical practice

Refreshments and Meals
Breakfast items, coffee, and snacks will be provided each day. Lunch will not be provided on Wednesday or Thursday; participants are asked to make their own arrangements. Please note that refrigerator access is unavailable, though there are several nearby options for lunch. A working lunch will be held on Friday, and lunch will be provided for all participants.

About the Trainer
Ashley Maliken
PhD, DBT-LBC (she/her)
Ashley is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in CBT and DBT for adolescents, young adults, and families. She is the Director of the Training Team and Teen and Family Team Lead at PDBTI. Dr. Maliken trained in DBT at the University of Washington with Dr. Marsha Linehan and previously served as faculty at UCSF and UC Berkeley. She has extensive experience in clinical practice, teaching, training, and supervision, with a career dedicated to advancing evidence-based treatments.
